Verdict
The free CRM itself is genuinely solid for solo use. Treat "free AI" claims carefully — the useful agents are pay-per-use or gated behind paid Hub tiers.
HubSpot's free CRM tier has long been one of the better deals in software — contact management, deal pipelines, and email tracking with no subscription. The AI layer, branded Breeze, is where the pricing gets more complicated.
The "Summarize with AI" option (visible on the contact card above) is available on HubSpot's free CRM tier — most competitors that offer a free CRM plan reserve AI features for paid upgrades.

Breeze Assistant — the general AI writing/research helper inside HubSpot — is available on every plan, including the free CRM, but it's rate-limited to roughly 30 requests per minute and 1,000 per day. Basic live chat and a rule-based (non-AI) chatbot are also included free, though they carry HubSpot branding.
What costs extra
- Breeze Customer Agent — as of April 14, 2026, priced at $0.50 per resolved conversation (down from a flat $1.00 per conversation regardless of resolution)
- Breeze Prospecting Agent — $1.00 per recommended lead
- Other Breeze Agents (Data, Company Research, Customer Health) — pay-as-you-go via HubSpot Credits
- Full Breeze AI suite via paid Service Hub — Starter ~$15/seat/month, Professional $90/seat/month (plus a $1,500 onboarding fee), Enterprise $150/seat/month with a 10-seat minimum
Pros
- Free CRM is a legitimately capable pipeline/contact tool, not a crippled trial
- Breeze Assistant's rate limits are unlikely to bind for a solo user's day-to-day writing/research tasks
- Pay-per-resolved-conversation pricing on Customer Agent is more predictable than a flat per-conversation fee
Cons
- The named AI agents that do real automated work (customer service, prospecting) all cost money on top of the free tier
- Professional Service Hub's $1,500 onboarding fee is a real barrier for a one-person business
- Pricing for Breeze has changed multiple times in the past year — confirm current numbers directly before budgeting
